Thank you Veterans - A Tribute for Memorial Day

My son Jason and his finace Erica included. Jason spent time in Iraq and they both have given their lives so that we can have the freedoms that we have. Many people complain about how things are being run in the government or about how this senator did this or blah blah blah . . . . . .

But the bottom line is, we have men and women who are willing to go to war - which is very ugly - in order to insure that we keep our fundamental rights as a nation.

Memorial Day is a time when we can, and SHOULD, recognize and THANK these men and women.

I personally know two very important people who have sacrificed and to them I say

THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

Here is a beautiful poem that my mom sent me.

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the
VETERAN who
salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag.

And, in closing, is a picture of a a man - maybe a vetern. Can you see what it says on the picture? If not, it says:

"The only person standing .... is the man in a wheelchair.
