Someone called into K-Love this morning and summed it up perfectly. As Americans we are happy that evil is gone. As Christians we are sad that one more person left the world not knowing God.
I first heard the news from my son Jason who served 8 years in the Army with one tour of duty in Iraq. He joined right after 9/11 with the reasoning that if everyone just sat back and waited for their neighbor to join, nothing would get done. Bin Laden would not be stopped. He and all our military are joyous today. He said it is crazy on the base.
In the back of my mind I was singing:
Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!
