Congratulations Joel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother-in-law, Joel, participated in the American Heart Association's walk on Saturday. He has really committed himself to the cause and we are all so thankful that he is here to do so. Way to go Joel! Keep up the hard work!!

Heart walkers lift feet to raise funds

Joel Robbins was caught off guard when a "widow-maker" heart attack nearly took his life last summer.

"It was unexpected," the 45-year-old said. "However, looking back, there were a lot of signs that I overlooked. I had shortness of breath, sweating that was unusual, and I was really lethargic."

Since his heart attack, Robbins has changed his lifestyle by eating healthier, reducing stress and exercising regularly.

"Being active is more of a mindset for me -- making it a point to not sit on the couch," he said.

Robbins was honored with the Lifestyle Change Award on Saturday morning during the American Heart Association's annual Heart Walk in West Lafayette.
